LAMSBD HISTORY

In 1985, a referendum was held and the majority of lake residents approved the formation of a special district.  

Clay County responded by establishing the Lake Asbury Municipal Service Benefit District. Clay County Ordinance 85-33

In 1986 The Florida Legislature created the Lake Asbury Municipal Service Benefit District. FL Ch 86-392 (HB 696), The Charter.

Lake Asbury Municipal Service Benefit District (LAMSBD) was established on July 14, 1986, to maintain the lakes and dams per the Charter for the benefit and enjoyment of the lake residents. Lake Asbury is a complex of three lakes and dams in Clay County, Florida. Lake Asbury Boundary Map with Street Addresses

In 1991, Quit Claim Deed by Lake Asbury Lake Lot Owners Association (LALLOA) granting 50% ownership to LAMSBD.

FL CH 2010-268, HB 1547 amending The Charter, Charter Revision, FL CH 86-392 allowing the District to exceed the original $100 per lot assessment to $600. A referendum was held and approved by a majority of lake residents. Any future increase in the annual assessment must again be approved by a majority of lake residents. The County Elections Office would oversee the referendum.
